1. Introduction
Night Walker is a weekly solo event that came with the Night City patch a year ago, as of this guide's writing. It is an event where you run around the Night City map to open treasure chests for Night Walker Points.
Night Walker Points can be spent in the Night Walker Shop for skill conversion pills as well as weapon manuals.
One run of Night Walker rewards you with 320 points. For the very first run you do on your character, the reward is tripled to 960 points.
2. Starting the event
Night Walker can be started at Fang Youqi at 1467, 1587 in Night City. You need to be a Jianghu VIP in order to start the event.
Once inside, you can open your map to see the treasure chest locations. There are always 15 treasures chests at the same locations.
3. Possible routing
This is the route that can be followed to open all 15 boxes.
With this route, you should be done in at most 15 minutes. Note that there's a blue teleport to the left of the main gate, that teleports you onto the roof for chest 1.
4. Event mechanics
In the event, there are guard NPCs which you must avoid, by not stepping into their detection range. The game shows what the ranges are. Some guards stand still, some guards walk around.
The objective is to avoid the guards while opening treasure chests. The guards deal a fixed amount of damage to you that cannot be reduced. Skills and lightness skills are disabled, and your healing ability is reduced to 0, making items like arena pills useless.
Extra Skills
One of the game mechanics Night Walker uses, are extra skills. These extra skills cost "Night City Treasure Chests" to cast. Night City Treasure Chests can be bought from the Night Walker Store, and drop from the treasure chests you open.
Each skill has a certain amount of cost and effects:
Skill Name | Cost | Effect |
---|---|---|
Thunderclap Pellet | 2 | Stuns enemies around you |
Stiletto Needle | 1 | Stun one target from up to 25 meters away |
Movement Speed Increase | 0 | Increase your movement speed |
Gold | 3 | Create a circle to draw guards to it |
Superior Thunderclap Pellets | 5 | Kills enemies around you |
Torch | 3 | Set fire to "provisions" scattered throughout the map, setting the nearby guards on fire and killing them |
Out of all these skills, the one worth using the most is Thunderclap Pellet as you're constantly on the move anyway. It is also the cheapest skill with the longest effect duration. Movement Speed Increase should also be used whenever possible, as it doesn't cost anything.
Action Value and Alert Value
A new game mechanic that Night Walker introduces, are the Action and Alert Values.
The green bar (Action Value) increases as you move around. It slowly drops when you stand still. When it maxes out, it'll start filling the red bar.
The red bar (Alert Value) increases as you move around while the green bar is full. It doesn't drop at all. The more full the red bar is, the more likely it is that guards spawn on top of you. You can increase the maximum cap of the red bar, by using a Stealthy Pill. The maximum cap is 1000.
5. Tips and tricks
You cannot cast skills inside. However, you can cast Nine Hell Yin Wind from Perish Blades before entering for increased movement speed.
You cannot ride a mount. However, you can still use Windrider outside of combat.
For extra movement speed, you can use Scholar's Academy's second inner.
6. Summary
Night Walker is an event where you open treasure chests in order to obtain Night Walker Points. With Night Walker Points, you can shop for skill cultivation conversion pills or weapon manuals. It's an excellent weekly to progress your character significantly in a very short amount of time spent.
